Start by getting in touch with me. Email is best but you are welcome to call or text as well. We’ll set up a time to drop the instrument off. If it’s a minor issue like a loose jack I’ll try and sort it on the spot.
If we know exactly what is to be done, say a setup, I’ll estimate cost, estimate a date of completion, and then contact you for pickup once the work is complete.
If the instrument has an issue that will take time to diagnose, I’ll ask you to leave it with me. As soon as I’ve identified the issue, I’ll get in contact with cost and time estimates. Should you choose to forego additional work, no worries. Inspections are free of charge.

It varies by job from a few hours to a few days. An intensive job like a full Stainless Steel refret can take a couple days of work, and a couple days of additional monitoring for stability. I’ll try to provide you an accurate estimate of time needed before proceeding with any work.
While I try to keep a broad range of commonly replaced parts in stock, some work may require ordering of additional parts or materials. In those cases, it may take two or three weeks for me to complete the work.

Of course. They’ll need to be of suitable condition and fit for your instrument. But I am happy to use parts you provide for repair.
If you need advice on what to order, feel free to ask. I’ll try and point you to a suitable solution.

It depends on the nature of the repair. My shop is small and suitable primarily for only the most common issues that guitars face.
That said, if your instrument has structural issues, I’ll assess it on a case by case basis.
Any repairs that require finish work must be declined. I have neither the appropriate equipment or space to handle finish work. The most common finishes used on guitars: polyurethane and nitrocellulose, pose significant risks that require dedicated space and safety equipment.

My shop is in my home garage in Halswell, Christchurch. As you are probably aware, there’s quite a bit of road-work going on around where I live. It’s also in a new development that doesn’t always show correctly in commonly used direction apps. When you make an appointment, I’ll let you know the best way to get here.

At present I can only accept payment via bank transfer or cash.
